In a turn of events that everyone knew was BOUND to happen, Nicole Scherzinger will not be returning to the judging panel on FOX's hit singing competition, 'The X Factor.' More surprisingly, Paula Abdul also will not be returning to the pnael, leaving Simon & L.A. to find to more female counterparts. The host , Steve Jones, got the axe too, but he wasn't important enough to be put into the title.
First off, thank goodness! Paula and Nicole together delivered nothing to table besides eye candy. That's it. They would stick together and take turns bashing Simon or sticking up for every contestant, and nothing interesting came from the pair, especially Nicole.
Paula's replacement is all but confirmed: Mariah Carey. Simon has been trying to get Mariah on the panel since before the show started, and she said herself she would have been a judge had she not just given birth during the audition process. So, she is definitely in a position to take Paula's seat. And she's EXTREMELY shady without even trying so she will make for good TV.
Nicole's replacement is a bit more of a toss up, but I think there's one woman who definitely is a frontrunner for the spot. Kelly Rowland was the STAR of the UK's 'X Factor' last season. Her charm and personality and gorgeousness, her fights with judges Tulisa & Louis Walsh were classic, and everyone loved her over there (well, for the most part.) But she's stated many times that travelling back & forth between London & the States while trying to record and promote an album was extremely difficult. And she also said she wants to focus on touring this year. So, given a chance to remain stateside this year would be perfect for her. She could tour this summer, taking time off for the audition days. The live shows don't start until October/November so she'll have plenty of time to record her 5th album. And then once the live shows start, she can promote the album without having to worry about flying overseas over & over. And like Mariah, she'll definitely add some spice to the panel.
Simon better play his cards right picking the replacements!
***UPDATE***
Rumors are now floating that Simon is going to book Mariah & Fergie as judges, and Victoria Beckham as judge, even though producers and sponsor Pepsi, are fighting to get Ryan Seacrest. Stay tuned...

I couldn't agree more. Mariah would be hilarious on x factor. i really hope Simon chooses kelly but he probably wont because he will probably wants a more diverse panel that specialize in different areas of music.
ReplyDeletei think Nicole would make a gr8 host
Definitely not going to be both Mariah & Kelly. Too many black people on one panel. All I know is he better pick the right people if he want's to keep my rating because it all depends on who's going to give good tv and I could care less about the contestants if we don't have good people's opinions judging them.
ReplyDeleteSidenote and I mean this in the nicest way possible because I love her but I don't think Kelly is going to be able to bring the extra ratings Simon wants. She is loved much more over in London (due to her not being there often they take full advantage when she is there and her dance music is very popular there) than in the states and not too many people support her SOLO music here(especially the majority of the X Factor audience). I have no doubt in her judging ability as I'm sure she'll do superb but Simon is looking to up the ratings this season due to his high expectations failing to match the real ratings of last season and I just think if he's going to accomplish this he is going to have to bring out the big guns.
Not many people supported Nicole's solo music either so Kelly beats her in that aspect. Plus Kelly's had recent success here (Grammy noms, platinum single) so I'd say she's more loved here than Nicole. Plus she's a R&B legend in my opinion. And Mariah Carey is POP royalty. Granted she's done R&B music, and she's black, to the masss audience, she's pop royalty so I wouldn't have a problem having them both on there.
ReplyDeleteWould be really interesting if they got someone like Dianne Warren or another huge songwriter to balance up amongest the big personalities of simon, LA, Mariah and whoever the host is going to be; as well as adding a touch of credibility. Or I think getting Justin Timberlake would definitely more than get the viewing numbers up and would avoid any bitchiness that Mariah is prone too with any other female judge (then again I'm sure folk would tune into to see that).
ReplyDeleteThe host , Steve Jones, got the axe too, but he wasn't important enough to be put into the title. <<< you killed me haha !!
ReplyDeleteThanks god he get rid of Paula... she was unbearable and the show was more about cat-fights btw Simon and her. So irritating when its supposed to be about other people "singing".
I never said I had a problem with them both on there. I meant one or the other but not both. I would be glad if it was both but its no way they're both going to be. Three black people & Simon? Not going to happen and the only reason Nicole ended up as judge was because Cheryl Cole was replaced because too many British accents (Simon Cheryl Steve) on an American show because she was initially co-hosting with Steve so it's not her fault she ended up as judge.
ReplyDeleteJustin Timberlake would be a great judge!
